Real Time Location Systems

Real-time locating systems (RTLS) are used to automatically identify and track the location of objects or people in real time, usually within a building or other contained area. Wireless RTLS tags are attached to objects or worn by people, and in most RTLS, fixed reference points receive wireless signals from tags to determine their location. Examples of real-time locating systems include tracking automobiles through an assembly line, locating pallets of merchandise in a warehouse, or finding medical equipment in a hospital.

At 4G Solutions we utilize RTLS through our relationship with Stanley Healthcare to provide our customers with an expertly designed and implemented location tracking system to save time and money, giving providers the opportunity to

increase patient flow and efficiency.

The Challenge

The requirement for hospitals to understand the movement and status of their assets is becoming increasingly important, as the average hospital can lose as much as 15% of its critical assets every year. On top of this, it has been observed that 51% of nurses can often spend at least 30 minutes per shift searching for equipment.  Not having the ability to automate inventory management, par level management, and rental management is also proving to be costly for healthcare organizations.

Asset Management Solution

STANLEY Healthcare is taking Asset Management to the next level with our AeroScout® Asset Management solution which uses a hospital’s pervasive Wi-Fi network to deliver a broad set of applications facility-wide.  The solution enables rapid deployment, and does not require a dedicated network of readers.

Through the use of both active and passive tags and the robust reporting capability of the STANLEY Healthcare MobileView application, processes that are today manual and labor intensive can be automated and streamlined for improved staff productivity and asset oversight.
